Nardò is a town steeped with Baroque history; beautiful streets and alleyways and stunning historic buildings.There are quite often concerts in the evening and as Nardo is in the heart of the wine region they host many food and wine festivals.
Along the nearby coast there are lots stunning sandy beaches with crystal clear water. There are lots of popular places to visit, such as Porto Cesareo, with its beautiful marina area; Santa Catarina, the St. Tropez of Puglia ,Santa Maria al Bagno, with its beautiful half moon bay; and Gallipoli, the famous town built on an island. Nearby towns to visit are Grottaglie, the center of ceramics in Puglia; Manduria, well-know for its red D.O.C wine district; and Lecce, the Florence of the South.
By air there is a choice of two international airports, served by Ryanair, Easyjet , BA and others, both easily reached;Brindisi is the closest approximately 50 minutes drive and Bari to the north can be reached in about 2 hours.
There is a train station at Brindisi and it is possible to take the train from Bari airport via Bari central with a journey time of about 1 hour 25 minutes.
